Hello everybody! We are a group of girls of Puente Mayorga and Guadiaro. We are sixteen. This blog will be used to publice our proyects. We are called "Lost" because the majority of us are new comers at I.E.S Jose Cadalso and we have felt a bit lost, everything is new.

Tomorrow my group and I are going to do the presentation of our travel to Australia, exactly to Sydney. I'm going to tell you which are the typical animals in Australia and the activities that we are going to do. I hope we get it right and you like it. Wish me luck.
The koala is a very important animal of Australia. It is an arboreal herbivorous. The koala lives almost entirely on eucalypt leaves they eat an average of 500 g of eucalypt leaves each day. They spend about three of their five active hours eating. Weight varies from about 14 kg for a large southern male, to about 5 kg for a small northern female. The koala's five fingers include two opposable thumbs, providing better gripping ability. The teeth of the koala are adapted to their herbivorous diet. Females reach maturity at 2 to 3 years of age, males at 3 to 4 years. A healthy female koala can produce one young each year for about 12 years. Gestation is 35 days.
Australia has created the world's largest network of
marine reserves and will restrict fishing and oil and gas exploration in a major step to safeguard
the environment and access to food.
The area will cover 3.1m sq km (1.2m sq miles) of
ocean including the entire Coral Sea, and encompass a third of the island
continent's territorial waters.
The environment minister, Tony Burke, said the
government expected to pay an estimated 100m Australian dollars to the fishing
industry in compensation for the new restrictions on their operations that will
take effect late this year.
Highly protected areas such as the Coral Sea off
Australia's north-eastern coast and the adjoining World Heritage-listed Great Barrier
Reefwill also be protected from oil and gas exploration. Both areas,
which cover a total 1.3m sq km, have shallow reefs that support tropical
ecosystems with sharks, coral, sponges and many fish species.
The numbers of marine reserves off
the Australian coast will be increased from 27 to 60.
